Mini Bio
I'm a single mother to my darling 10 year-old little boy who has "highly-functioning" autism and ADHD. It's never easy but we manage and have fun doing so most of the time. We also have 2 female Chihuahuas named Sophie (6 yrs) and Sasha (2 yrs) and one ornery old stray cat that we took in named Oscar (Wilde, of course -grin- guessing he's at least 9 since he wasn't a kitten when we found him in '01).
I love photography and went to UGA for a BFA in it for 2 years after I got my associate's degree. I adore literature and read voraciously. I write poetry, prose, and fiction. I like to draw and paint but am especially fond of doing ink washes. I'm drawn (lol) to black & white and high contrast. I've changed my major from English/Journalism to Marine Biology and then to Photography (I'm not great with chemistry outside of the lab) before I went through my divorce. My academic pursuits are currently on hiatus until I can truly decide on a degree but I am leaning towards getting a B.S.Ed. so that I can teach.
I like sleeping a lot, but that's not to say that I get to because I usually have insomnia and have to be up rather early most mornings. I'm bipolar and a combination of the INFP/ISFP personality types (I score one or the other based on my mood it seems) and wear my heart on my sleeve. I drink entirely too much tea, both hot and iced. I think that chocolate and cheese should be their own food groups on the food pyramid...and maybe ramen. Cupcakes and cookies make me happy, whether I am eating them or baking them for other people. A lifelong oral fixation finds me a recovered nail biter with a constant supply of lollipops on my person at any given moment. I'm obsessed with cute stuff (like GIR, Hello Kitty/Chococat, & other super 'girlie stuff') and Batman. I collect ballerina Barbie dolls, vintage and antique things such as apothecary jars/bottles/vials, various medical equipment/tools/devices with intricate gears, scrolling ironwork, etc. I'm also into tinkering with various gadgets and gizmos and I like to weld (with an oxy-acetylene torch, more artistically than mechanically). This fascination combined with my love of historic/period costumes and devices, especially from the Victorian era, translates well into some rather nifty steampunk items and ideas. I'm totally fascinated by forensics.
I spend most of my spare time with my son, exploring the world around me, taking photos, writing/reading, or playing World of Warcraft (Blackhand & Zul'jin servers), though not so much with the WoW these days. I love music of almost all kinds (though I'm honestly not fond of rap or country). And I suppose that's all, really.
